It’s interesting how the pressure to move business logic into the integration platform never really goes away.
On my first project, I tried to calculate VAT directly in the interface. Easy enough: 25%, one calculation. But my team lead pushed back, since that rate could change later, and by then nobody would understand what the interface was actually doing. So instead, I built a lookup of VAT codes and pulled the rate from there.
The goal is a system someone else can maintain long after you’re gone, not a quick fix. And yes, sometimes moving logic into the integration layer really is the right call.
In a recent SAP Community Technology Blog Post BipashaRay argues that most integration issues don’t come from platform limitations, but from how iFlows are designed and built. The post walks through the recurring mistakes that keep showing up across SAP projects, and why they tend to creep in even on well-intentioned teams.
SAP Integration Suite is a powerful platform, but like any tool, its effectiveness depends on how you use it.
Open Figaf demo on migration from SAP PI/PO to Integration Suite
Join us on Tuesday, August 18, 11:00 CEST.
This is a new format to show what is possible to more people and to experiment more. So, if you’re in the middle of a PI/PO to Integration Suite migration and stuck on something, bring it. We’ll dig into it live. And if you’re not on Figaf yet but wondering whether it’d actually solve your migration headache, ask me directly. No pitch, just an honest answer.
You probably have one SAP integration problem you’d love to fix
Maybe it’s testing your PI to Integration Suite migration. Transporting integration content. Documenting iFlows. Or speeding up Groovy development.
Figaf has features for all of that, and more.
But have you looked at your whole integration delivery process lately? There are usually several areas where you could speed things up, places where you’re spending hours on something that should just be automated.
I walked through an example of this on LinkedIn recently.
Go with Figaf, and we can help resolve a lot of these challenges out of the box.
Try the interactive guide here. In about an hour you’ll get a real sense of what’s possible with the tool.
