Outsource the work, not the understanding

Outsourcing your SAP migration is fine, as long as you still know how to run it. See how that can be done in practice.

Week 36 · September 4, 2026 · 2 min read

Companies outsource their SAP migration project all the time, and that’s a completely reasonable choice, but too often the customer ends up not really knowing what got built or how to run it once the project wraps.

Consultants get hired, do the work, hand it over. The customer stays hands off, because that’s what outsourcing is supposed to mean. But you’re the one who owns the result and has to operate that solution for years to come, not the consultant.

So if you’re outsourcing a migration, or any SAP Integration Suite project, put learning how to operate it directly into the RFP and the project scope. Don’t leave it as an assumption. Ask for it explicitly.

This is actually one of the things Figaf and similar tools make a lot easier. When your integrations are documented, tested, and transported through a proper tool, understanding what’s actually running in your landscape stops being something only the consultant can explain.

The Figaf 2608 release is now available!

This release is mostly about visibility. The Landscape Overview now lets you filter objects by the tickets you’re working on, so you can see at a glance whether everything you’re tracking has actually made it to production, and the B2B scenarios overview got a similar shortcut to check what’s live and in what state.

We also simplified how you set up new B2B trading partners, including a new option for non-authenticated AS2 connectivity when your security policy already relies on encryption and signatures. And DevOps tickets and transports got a small but handy filter to cut straight to what still needs your attention.

Alongside all that, we kept working on platform security (most of that you won’t see directly) and closed out a batch of smaller fixes from customer cases.

Figaf from zero to live

This week Daniel hosted a webinar, where he built up a Figaf install from zero and put it to work on a live SAP Integration Suite landscape.

Starting with a fresh install, then using it for transport, Groovy development, testing, and documentation, live, and steered by whatever questions the audience brought.

Because implementing a tool that helps you every day shouldn’t take six months to get going.

When should you use the Figaf Migration Tool?

Many migrations are fairly simple and can be done with any tool. But you do have cases where you need an extra option to migrate.

Most customers will by default use SAP’s migration tool, but they sometimes run into limitations that require extra work.

Those are the cases where you should explore Figaf, to see if it can reduce the effort you need for migration. Or create a result that is easier to manage.

A feature comparison would not work; it all depends on how your landscape is set up and how it works.

Our free trial gives you 10 free migrations, so you can compare the result for yourself. If it reduces your effort and produces a better result, buy a license for the scenarios where it helps.
