Recap: SAP Sapphire Orlando 2025

Daniel's takeaways from SAP Sapphire 2025 in Orlando on SAP Integration Suite, migration, SAP Business Data Cloud and AI

SAP Sapphire 2025 is done and in the books and it was a great event.

I just need to fly home.

My main focus is SAP Integration. I have not looked into many of the other areas. My main focus is SAP Integration suite to hear what is going on and to understand what areas I can tackle to improve the process.

I had a good discussion with David Morin from MorInteresting, Inc. / Happy Integrations about our impression on the event.

SAP Integration Suite

SAP Integration Suite continues to move forward. It is again a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and now has more than 14,000 customers. I really think this shows how well SAP’s tool is seen in the market and how it can help customers.

Sapphire session slide on SAP Integration Suite: Gartner MQ leader, 14.6k+ customers, 75% of scenarios with non-SAP connectors, 1.8 million deployed flows

I saw that 75% of deployed integration scenarios use non-SAP connectors, which also shows it is more than a simple SAP-to-SAP platform.

It was a bit of a shame that SAP Integration Suite did not make it to the keynote. There was a lot of good stories around it. But looking at the announcements there was nothing new, maybe it is because we now have the monthly update calls to show what is new.

I would have liked to see SAP talk more about the migration journey and the improvements they have made to the assessment report and the migration to support pipeline concept. It does show something about the direction and maybe it would also be interesting to see number of customers that have migrated.

I attended a couple of good sessions with customers presenting their journey to Integration Suite. It was interesting to see that they see Integration Suite as the platform that would support their needs.

I have really enjoyed meeting partners and customers and hearing about their journey and vision. Our partners shared their vision of how to use Figaf in their project to simplify the journey.

And to hear what kind of challenges SAP customers were facing as a part of the journey.

SAP Business Data Cloud

The SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) story was also interesting to get to understand more about. It is a collection of everything SAP has around data from ETL like Datasphere, to storage and BW. As always, the ETL and Message based integration is interesting to know when to use which one architecturally and license-wise.

To be compliant with the message of the event there was a lot of discussion about AI and that it will change the way we work and do business. I don’t know the impact of this yet for customers. But I did get ideas on if we could make some AI use case with Figaf and your integration content. But for now, I don’t think it will add too much value.

It ended with a great trip to Epcot with a good concert. I had a blast.
